Two Ways to Load Your Card
How you load depends on whether you want to spend USDC directly or borrow against your other assets.
Method 1: Direct Load
The simplest way to load your card. Transfer USDC from your wallet directly to the card in one step.
Navigate to the Card page in the Moonwell app.
Select Load Card.
Enter the USDC amount you want to load.
Confirm the transaction in your wallet.
Your card is funded and ready to spend.
Method 2: Borrow and Load
Use your assets as collateral to borrow USDC, which goes directly to your card. This is ideal if you want to keep your crypto while spending against it.
Supply assets on the Base network.
Enable your assets as collateral.
Go to Borrow and Load on the Card page.
Choose the USDC amount you want to borrow and load.
Confirm the transaction.
The borrowed USDC is instantly loaded to your card.
Using Your Card to Spend
Once loaded, use your Moonwell Card anywhere Visa is accepted. This includes online purchases, in-store shopping, and contactless payments.
You can also add your card to Apple Pay or Google Pay for quick mobile payments.
Checking Your Balance
Your card balance is visible in the Moonwell app. Check it anytime to see how much USDC you have available.
What Happens if I Run Out of Funds?
Your card transaction will be declined if you don't have enough balance. You'll need to load more USDC to keep spending.
Consider setting up Auto Load so your card never runs out, refilling automatically from a USDC vault position.
Exchange Rates
For non-USD purchases, your card uses standard Visa exchange rates. The rate is locked at the moment of your transaction.
Key Points
Direct Load is fastest; Borrow and Load lets you keep your crypto.
Borrow and Load creates a loan, so the same liquidation risks apply.
Loaded funds become fiat for spending and can't be moved back to crypto.
