What Is This Migration?
If you hold the old Wormhole-wrapped WELL token on Base, you can migrate it to native WELL using the Migration Wizard. Native WELL is the current standard and is required for staking and other protocol features.
If you hold WELL that is not on the xERC20 standard, this is how you bring it up to date.
Why Migrate?
Native WELL is the better option because it's:
Required for staking in the Safety Module
Compatible with the new xERC20 cross-chain standard
Seamless to transfer between Ethereum Mainnet, Base, OP Mainnet, and Moonbeam
Backed by better liquidity and exchange support
Token Addresses
If you need to verify which WELL you hold:
Wormhole WELL (old): 0xFF8adeC2221f9f4D8dfbAFa6B9a297d17603493D
Native WELL (current): 0xA88594D404727625A9437C3f886C7643872296AE
How to Migrate
Step 1: Find the banner. Look for a banner under the top navigation. This will bring you to the Migration Wizard. This tool guides you through the process.
Step 2: Approve Wormhole WELL spending. The Migration Wizard will ask you to approve spending of your Wormhole WELL. This is expected. It lets the wizard access your tokens. Click approve and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
Step 3: Confirm the migration. Once approved, review the migration details. The wizard shows you how much Wormhole WELL will be converted to native WELL. Click confirm to start the migration.
Step 4: Wait for completion. The migration typically takes about 30 minutes. During this time, your tokens are converted from the old Wormhole standard to native WELL.
After Migration
Once complete:
Your native WELL appears in your wallet.
Your Wormhole WELL is removed.
You can now stake native WELL in the Safety Module on any network.
You can transfer WELL across chains using xERC20.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the migration mandatory?
No, migration isn't required, but it's strongly recommended. Native WELL offers better functionality and is required for staking.
Can I still use Wormhole WELL?
Yes. Wormhole WELL still functions on Base for basic transfers and trading. However, you can't stake it in the Safety Module. You must migrate to native WELL to participate in staking and earn rewards.
What if I don't migrate?
Your Wormhole WELL will continue to work, but you'll miss out on staking rewards and the benefits of the new xERC20 standard. We recommend migrating as soon as possible.
How do I know my migration worked?
Check your wallet after the 30 minutes have passed. You should see your native WELL balance appear, and your Wormhole WELL balance should be gone.
What if something goes wrong?
If your migration doesn't complete after 30 minutes, or if you encounter an error, reach out for assistance.
